CLUE REDEMPTIΘN

So you came in on the September 2014 wave of applications, and with it, your character was given a key. Or maybe it was the October 2014 round, and you were given a clue you'd like to dig into further. Good news: This is where you redeem it. SEPTEMBER ROUND: KEYS All you have to do is show us your acceptance note and tell us how your character finds the lock the key belongs to (extra credit if you link to a relevant thread!), and we'll tell you exactly what they've found. <b>Character Name:</b> <b>Journal:</b> <b>Acceptance Note:</b> (a link will do nicely) <b>Discovery of Keyhole:</b> (we prefer this be threaded out, but it doesn't have to be. if it isn't, just let us know why, when, and how your character reasonably finds the latch or door their key belongs to!) By the way, someone saw you two disturbing their holy grounds. And then swam away to tell their fry what happened.

By the time you get around to taking a scientific whiff, there are about thirty of these scrambling out of the surf toward you, shrieking in rage and wielding everything from human-made spears and swords to clubs made of driftwood and the discarded teeth of a very large shark.

They're going to make every attempt to kill you. How dare you.

End result, whether you got away or not: Those merfolk were actually not so bad. They're ugly, but up until now it was entirely possible they spotted Maria (and vice versa) and went along on their merry way.

You've now succeeded made them extremely hateful toward land dwellers. From here on out, there will be increased incidences of them attacking people who swim, wade into deeper swamp water, or simply get too close to the beach if they're feeling particularly territorial that day.

You totally stomped all over their most ascended burial grounds and evidently you're still trying to steal one of their poor departed children from them, so no.

maria would probably know their general territory to warn people about not going too close, right? if they've spotted each other before

They consider "the ocean" to be their territory, but their actual stomping grounds are surprisingly close to the hell gate.

The waters between the boardwalk and the lighthouse will be the worst places to be after this. Nowhere along the shoreline/in the water is 100% safe, but but the farther out from that area you go, the better your chances of no being attacked.
