Character Death & Respawn
CHARACTER DEATHS |
Character death is a bit of a unique feature in The Box. After five years of wasting valuable resources, the Technicians got quite a bit more clever about how they do things here. Instead of constantly wasting resources to lure or drag in new subjects, they simply added a new process instead: cloning. This way, they can easily and efficiently keep the box stocked with fresh lives. What does this mean for the game? Well, here's the breakdown. CHARACTER DEATH
When your character dies, please report it to the death toll. MULTIPLE DEATHS

If they stumble across the Memory Board, they may see their own name among the list of the dead. RE-APPED (by a different player)

✖THE MORGUE South of Northtown lies the morgue - and characters that respawn here will either find themselves on the filthy metal tables in the embalming rooms, or tucked away in cadaver storage boxes in the walls. However, the morgue has definitely seen better days, and after the wildfires last August, it's gotten even worse. Fire damage is everywhere, and you may wake up sloping sideways on a half-melted table or stuck in one of the storage boxes due to the locking mechanism jamming. ✖THE GRAVEYARD Located behind Northtown's church, characters who respawn here will wake up six feet down in an open grave. Getting out alone may be a bit difficult, as the dirt around ranges from dry and crumbly to slick and muddy depending on the recent weather. ✖THE OCEAN RAFT Floating in the sea roughly 100 feet out is a raft, anchored only by a single rope to the southernmost part of the Southtown Boardwalk. Characters who respawn here will have the options of either waving like a fool and hoping someone rescues them, or braving the creatures lurking in the sea to swim for the shore. Please note that the mermen have been especially agitated with land dwellers lately, and getting to shore can be especially dangerous. If untied or cut free in any way, the raft will drift out until it hits the barrier and comes to a sizzling halt... only to be anchored to the exact same spot the next day. |
