Character Name: Blaine Anderson
Canon: Glee

History: Blaine's page on the Glee wiki is here.
Personality: A lot about Blaine can be summed up by taking into consideration that deep down he’s really just a teenager with all the same issues and concerns as other teenagers. It's just he's also really very good at pretending that he's not. His carefully constructed personality is a way to cover up his own anger issues and insecurities, and his earnest and heart felt attitude often masks his own ignorant and foolish mistakes.

Blaine has done a very good job at building an armor around himself that protects the ball of insecurity nestled inside of him. His armor of choice happens to be the face of a confident and charismatic--and dapper--young boy. He really does care about people and what they think of him and because of that he goes out of his way to be helpful and charming. He puts a lot of work into his appearance and behavior as he wants to be someone that people think well of.

When it comes to his interactions with people he tends to be a very accepting and friendly kind of guy because he likes it when people are at ease around him. This even extends to taking a certain amount of abuse if it's for the better harmony of the group. For example, when he first changes schools and joins the New Directions the leader of that team, Finn, reacts by being very mean towards him by doing things like telling him to sit down and shut up every time he tries to give input about what the team should do. Blaine takes this for a while, allowing Finn to be angry at him every time he speaks, until it finally gets to be too much for him.

Blaine likes listening to people and offering advice when it's needed. When he senses that there's something someone wants to get off their chest he wants to be there to help them out. Sometimes his advice can be pretty bad consequences but he wants to give the image of someone who knows what he's talking about. Other times, his words can be rather inspiring, especially when he's trying to rally his team or help out his friends. He makes mistakes like any other kid but that doesn't mean that his advice is always wrong.

While Blaine tries to be accepting of all types of people, he can't stand to be around someone doing something hateful or who is bullying someone weaker than they are. He has a hard time tolerating any sort of injustice or bigotry. He'll stand up for things that he thinks are right and will let people know when he disapproves of what they are doing. It usually has to be something extreme though, he doesn't like preaching so much as standing up for people--any kind of bullying will make him stand up, for example, but he won’t be lecturing people for just having a different opinion than he does. This urge can sometimes mean that he puts his foot in his mouth or that he gets himself into situations that are dangerous for him, but not standing up for the right thing will make him feel guilty after.

One thing he does that he is really good at is performing on stage. When he's giving a performance he lets everything go. His carefully maintained appearance melts away a bit as he lets music and art over take him. He has amusing and heartfelt stage faces and can jump around and just let go. Performing and music have become important parts of his life because the release he feels when he's singing and when he's on stage. Music and the arts have become some of the most important things to him. He uses music to express things he’s not comfortable with, especially if it has to do with emotions he keeps hidden the maintain the image of perfection.

Blaine has his own sense of humor, which he uses to try to defuse tense situations or to make people smile (For example, saying "Well, he's not coming out anytime soon" in reaction to a closeted bully attacking him and Kurt when they confront him with his sexuality). He also uses it to make fun of himself when he really needs to be made fun of (including a comment about there being tons of GAPs for him to perform in, despite a really humiliating and public performance at a GAP). He also uses humor when needed to help people feel comfortable or to offer criticism to people without being too mean ("Oh God no. No more candles." in response to Kurt's overly elaborate sets).

Blaine's interests range from politics to fashion to football. He went to a private school for a bit and has a pretty decent education. His friend Sam comments that he "kicks ass at school" hinting that he gets excellent grades. He's able to maintain those grades while being active in several extracurricular activities, the most notable of which are his Superhero club and, of course, Glee club. He also is known to do research online for topics that aren't taught in school. He took up boxing to deal with his anger over his bullying and has fencing and polo trophies in his room. He knows a good deal about music and art. He wants his life to be dedicated to art and to helping people. He tends to try have an optimistic outlook about the world, despite all of the horrible things he’s had to deal with. For example, he really believes that marriage equality will be a thing in his life time.

Blaine is very good at trying to put people at ease, but he's also a very talented young man who knows that he is that talented. This means that sometimes he'll bask in the attention of his peers without realizing that he's putting others in the shadow. When it gets pointed out to him, he manages to feel guilty about it but he also knows that the life of a performer is one that is filled with competition. Blaine tends to let himself get caught up in his own emotion and talent, even forgetting lessons he's already learned or accidentally over stepping his boundaries in a desire to be someone important.

Recently Blaine has made a massive mistake that spiraled him into a bout of depression. He ended up cheating on the boy he's certain is the love of his life, and only had himself to blame for the destruction of his relationship. While he's been working on being friends with Kurt again, their relationship has suffered serious damage. He and Kurt slept together during a wedding and even managed to hang out afterwards but Kurt's instance that they are "just friends" means that his relationship hasn't been completely repaired yet. This led Blaine to believe that he had to make some kind of grand gesture to get Kurt back. Then, despite the fact that Kurt’s dad and Blaine’s friends thought it was a bad idea and that he was rushing too much into things, Blaine bought a wedding ring for Kurt. This action is actually a pretty good example of what was mentioned above about Blaine being caught up in his own emotions, as he ignored good advice and the reality of the situation and instead listened to his own emotions and his own wants. (He wants to be with Kurt, so he’s going to ask him to marry him, despite Kurt and him not being together and all of the sane voices around him telling him it’s a bad idea.) By the time he arrives in the Box he will not have asked for Kurt’s hand, but it was something that he was ready to do.

While Blaine tires to be aware of others so that he can put them at ease there are times where he can be completely oblivious about how they feel. The prime example of this (besides the whole wedding ring thing) is how he treated Kurt when Kurt started developing a massive crush on him. Unaware of his friend's feelings for him, Blaine kept doing things to make Kurt think they were becoming a couple (singing with him, buying him things, doing everything with him). It wasn't until Kurt admitted that he thought there was more than friendship that Blaine finally exposed some of the truth of who he is--a scared, insecure teenager who has a bad habit of throwing himself so completely into things that he messes them up without meaning to.

Despite the way that Blaine will sometimes throw himself completely into his own emotions, Blaine also wants to be there for people, to be what they need him to be, and also will have moments of putting his own needs second to theirs. It’s just that he does so while at the same time being completely clueless as to what they really want from him. There are also some issues that are so intense that Blaine isn’t sure what to do about them too. When he’s confronted with something like this, he at least tries to offer support in some way that he knows is inadequate (like offering to get lunch with Kurt when he’s really upset that a bully’s hate kiss was his first kiss).

Blaine sometimes tends to do things without thinking them through and knows that if he doesn't watch it he can get carried away. It's a lot like how he is on stage. If he doesn't control himself, if he doesn't keep a tight leash on his emotions and actions, then he'll jump around all over the place. The only problem is that when it comes to his life that means people will get hurt. At least on stage his biggest problem is that some of his stage faces are ridiculous. Blaine’s actions can usually be traced to him either letting go completely or being too tightly controlled on his emotions. The desire to ask Kurt to marry him is a result of the first, while taking abuse from Finn in the name of not causing drama for the New Directions is a result of the second.

Basically, this means that with most people he’s just met, he's reserved with the appearance of being friendly, open, and welcoming. He doesn't want them to catch on to how he's really second-guessing himself with almost everything he says. That's not to say that he's insincere in his desire to help them though. He is just as earnest about other people's emotions as he seems to be. He wants the people around him to be happy and comfortable; it's just that he's not always that way with himself.

Blaine's insecurities may also stem from a less than perfect relationship with his father, who tends to spend his summers doing "manly" things in an attempt to "straighten him out" and his strained relationship with his older brother, Cooper, who always criticized everything he did growing up. His relationship with Cooper has recently started to be repaired, but there's still some self-conscious damage there.

Underneath all of this is someone who can be very angry. Blaine admits to being very frustrated and pissed off over how things went at his school before Dalton. Blaine really doesn't like injustice, or how unfair the world can be at times and his anger over it can come in waves. He usually does a good job of keeping his frustration, especially when he's in his element. He tries to keep his anger hidden and at bay and he can cool off quickly if given the right circumstance. For example, when he does finally snap at Finn for constantly being down on him, all it takes is Finn admitting he was intimidated for Blaine to cool down and be on his good side again. Despite this, his temper is still something that could be exploited if put in the right hands.

Blaine tries to keep that temper hidden under his calm exterior, but there is also a real anger under the surface that he feels about his family and his circumstances. He's a young gay male who knows how difficult his world is on people in his community. He knows there are people out there who literally hate him just for being who he is and that reality just seems so unfair. When he was bullied at his old school the teachers there made him feel like it was something that he would just have to put up with. "You're gay; of course you're going to be bullied." It would piss him off so much to know that there were people out there who will always reduce him to this one aspect of his personality and always judge him for it. It’s even worse because his own dad can’t really embrace that part of him.

The bullies who attacked him also left a huge scar in Blaine’s mind. From things that Blaine has said and the fact that he left schools, it seems that those bullies didn’t really get very punished, despite the fact that they "beat the crap" out of Blaine and his friend. Instead, Blaine was forced from his school, forced to run just to get away from those kinds of attacks. After he went to Dalton, Blaine picked up boxing and started his own little fight club to help work off that steam and to protect himself from that ever happening again. He used that and the stage to work out his aggression, but the sense that the world is just sort of a messed up place never really left him. In the episode "Night of Neglect", we see the first real example of this when Blaine physically lashes out at Kurt’s bully for threatening them. Later, after he transfers to McKinley and is treated unfairly by Kurt’s step-brother Finn he lashes out at Sam for implying they should get more seductive on the stage. After the outburst, he is seen punching a punching bag and admits that he’s picturing Finn's face on the bag. This is important because these are people who don't have a problem with his sexuality. It proves that Blaine feels angry about any sort of unfair treatment and reacts very poorly toward repeat offenses.

Ultimately, despite his hidden issues, Blaine really wants to be optimistic and wants to believe that things will get better. During his optimistic times he does see all the ways it's getting better and he can even be hopeful about his future, but that doesn’t completely chase away all of the hurt and outrage over how he has been treated. This doesn’t mean that he loses his temper at the drop of the hat though. He tries to push his frustration into productivity before falling into violence, but sometimes that tense string snaps and his frustration expresses itself in violent action (which usually is limited to snapping at someone, or pushing at a bully to start a fight).

When it comes to his insecurity, Blaine knows that he's talented and that he's good at what he does. When he's on stage, he doesn't doubt that for a moment. It’s just that that doesn't mean that he isn't constantly wondering if he's good enough in every other way. When he finally admits to Kurt that he's really not as put together has he seems he says "I don't know what I'm doing. I pretend like I do and I know how to act it out in song...” in the same episode Blaine admits that he has trouble expressing himself outside of a performance. During "Big Brother", we find out that some of this comes from the constant criticism he faced growing up. When you’re told over and over again that you aren’t good enough, you start to believe it. He doubts that what he thinks will be good enough, that his feelings are valid, and that people will respond well to him being honest without the song and dance. It’s so much easier for him to put himself out there through music because it’s so theatrical and expressive. He doesn’t have to worry about rejection hurting as much. His time at McKinley had also really helped him get over that, mostly because his friends (notably Sam and Tina) are so supportive and helpful. He feels accepted there, and realizes that he doesn’t have to be perfect to be loved.

In "Blame it on the Alcohol", Blaine also expresses uncertainty about who he is. While he is out and proud, he is easily effected by a drunk kiss with a girl and questions his sexuality (never "am I straight?" though, instead he questions the possibility of being bi). The fight between him and Kurt after that includes a line that implies that Blaine sometimes has doubts and concerns about his identity. Maybe not always his sexuality (as that issue was figured out by the end of the episode) but Blaine is still trying to figure out who he is. He’s a young man, after all, and part of that growing up experience is figuring those things out. Finding out that he's the type of person to cheat has made him question himself even more, though through some help from his friends (again, Tina and Sam most notably) he's been figuring himself out again. This is another area that McKinley has helped him sort out, though in depending on the situations he finds himself in the game, he’ll likely have to confront some things that will make him question himself again; as this game is set in the horror genre, chances are he'll have to make choices or confront aspects of himself that he isn't completely comfortable with.

Blaine’s demeanor is carefully crafted in part to seem like a well put together and sure because he doesn’t want people to catch onto how uncertain he is and judge him for it. He even worries about his appearance because of that, and expresses real fear when he is banned from hair gel, too afraid to show his untamed hair in public. He doesn’t like being exposed, and instead wants to control what people see of him. Grooming is very important to him because of that. Also, he keeps things around him neat and always eats very neatly (to the point that we’ve seen him cutting a salad before eating it). Because he’s come to feel very comfortable at McKinley he’s also started to be more vibrant there as he isn’t worried as coming off as effeminate around his friends. He’s also let his nerd out while at McKinley, which is seen very plainly in his loyalty to the Superhero’s club (and how seriously he takes that club). He even created an alter-ego, Nightbird, and shows little worry about running around the halls of his high school in his Superhero costume.

Basically, all of what was said before may mean that Blaine has internal conflict that sometimes shows through but it doesn’t mean that he’s nothing but a ball of neuroticism. Even though he has those doubts and fears he also has moments of pure confidence fueled by his talent and likability. He just feels like he has to compensate for those doubts by always appearing as perfect as possible. In the end, he’s a pretty normal teenage boy with conflicting emotions that he has to learn to control and sort through. This means sometimes he can seem a little contradictory, but in the end he’s young enough that he’s still defining his personality and figuring out who exactly he wants to be.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses: Blaine is a just a kid from Ohio with no supernatural or magical powers to speak of. He is, however, a talented performer. He has pretty decent stage presence and knows how to sing and play some instruments. For examples of what is meant check some songs from the show: Baby It’s Cold Outside, Hungry Like The Wold/Rio, Teenage Dream (acoustic) and Cough Syrup. Please be aware that the last one, while an amazing performance, has some scenes in it that deal with suicide and may be triggering.

In canon, Blaine’s room also has trophies for fencing and polo so he has some kind of talent there, but those skills will be a little rusty when he comes to The Box as there is no evidence that he kept up these sports at McKinley. Blaine also has a way with people that comforts and encourages them, and is genuinely interested in them, something that aids him in forming relationships across fandoms.

Glee also has a habit of having its characters manage to pull off pretty spectacular performances with little to no rehearsal, and while that’s something that the fandom usually teases the show about (and that characters in the show teases the show about), it also can be used to show that Blaine is able to adapt to performances and to can manage to play some music on the piano without sheet music when needed--and within reason. He isn’t going to be able to play a song from a different culture, for example, because he’d have no reason to have ever heard it. It probably won’t come up very often in this game given the setting, but for an example of how this is usually handled, here is a scene of an audition in another game. It’s only six comments long because the other mun ended up dropping, but it’s a good example of what how Glee’s lack of rehearsals may be handled in game.

As far as weaknesses, a lot of his personality weaknesses were covered above. I think the main one is his inability to see past his own needs and emotions at times. It was this trait that lead to him cheating a Kurt and it is that kind behavior that might make him overlook the needs of others in the game. Considering how important acceptance is to him and given the life or death situations likely to come up, Blaine will have to find a way to overcome that to stop it from sending him into more depression. Physically, Blaine is not all that strong when compared to super powered beings and is a little on the short side. He also has no experience with firearms and limited experience with melee weapons. Fencing a bit does not prepare one to fight for their lives. He also is not used the dealing with monsters psychologically. His optimism tends to not be very realistic and he's never had to deal with a horror setting in canon (though I tend to put him in horror setting games more than I should). All of this means that he will be strongly emotionally and psychologically affected by what he deals with in the game.

Samples
Network/Action Spam Sample: Here is the intro of him in another game. He's attempting to make a message to Kurt and it fails, but you can see a bit how he interacts with people. For him being a bit of him being a nerd there's this post in another game of him responding to coming back to modern day after a game event sent all the PCs back in time. I do have some more recent examples though if those two are good enough. (Also I know you said to only link for one sample, but two for one might be good? I just thought that one sample showed him being serious and the other one was much shorter of a post to show the more goofy side to him).
Prose Log Sample: Blaine stubbornly shoved his curls from out his face. He had managed to track down a flash light and some batteries, but access to hair gel was still woefully limited. He really didn't let himself complain about it too much, though, considering he was in some messed up people-sized ant farm. It wasn't like hair care should be on the top of his list.

No, on the top of his list was figuring out just where in the heck he was. He knew it wasn't Ohio, but the English signs hinted that he might still be in North America. He didn't have many more details that that though, as all of the information about it was so limited. Most of the signs around town seemed faded, and the locals weren't willing to give up a lot of information. He just had such a hard time believing that a box like this could appear somewhere in his home country without them realizing what was going on. Maybe they were in Canada? That was supposed to have a lot of open land, right? He thought the best way to figure out a location was to check out the library for information.

Flash light in hand, he found his way into the empty building. The stacks and stacks of books should have been familiar, considering he was still a student back home, but here they seemed alien and foreign. Whatever light could come through the windows filtered through the shelves in random straight lines. Dust danced through that fractured light and gave the entire place the appearance of being haunted by nymphs. Nymphs who weren't very friendly.

Shaking aside that unreasonable fear, Blaine moved to where the reference books should have been. He thought this was his best chance for getting some answers. He wasn't sure how he'd get a message back home, but it would be pointless to even try without a better idea of where he was. How else could his family get the authorizes to come find him? They had to be worried about him. Despite how tense things could be between him and his parents at times, they had still held him close when he had thought there was a shooter at his school. They'd hold him close now that he had been kidnapped and locked up in a strange barrier too, if he could only find his way back to them.

He told himself that his part was to just find a way to lead them there. That was why he was alone in the library. Or at least he thought he was alone.

He was almost about to turn the corner to the reference books when he heard it. A shuffling sound from behind him, as if feet were dragging their way closer to him.

He spun and directed the beam of light towards the sound. All he saw was a sheet of plastic placed over a shelf move slightly in a breeze that he couldn't feel.

"Hello?" he asked, and he was ashamed by how shaky his voice came out. He swallowed and got better control of himself before speaking again. "Is any one there?"
