Clue Redemption Post

CLUE REDEMPTIΘN

So you came in on the September 2014 wave of applications, and with it, your character was given a key. Or maybe it was the October 2014 round, and you were given a clue you'd like to dig into further. Good news: This is where you redeem it.

SEPTEMBER ROUND: KEYS
All you have to do is show us your acceptance note and tell us how your character finds the lock the key belongs to (extra credit if you link to a relevant thread!), and we'll tell you exactly what they've found.

OCTOBER ROUND: CLUES
We'd like to know which numbered slip you got and how your character finds the relevant clue location, and we'll give you any details you could possibly want. If you traded clues with another new character, that's totally fine, but we'd like them to drop in and confirm the trade before we give any deets!

TEN FEET :| u guise r butts. But yeah, by the time he gets there he's gonna wanna see what the hell it is and dig and dig like a dog. He'll be pooped by then, but when he finds the box he'll take it out of the big hole he's dug, probably with help.

Once he's had a look at the box he'll try to get the lock off by force. When that doesn't work he'll just wail on the box, because OPEN I DUG FOREVER TO FIND YOU D

So is it just a pretty rock shaped like an egg then? Should he be afraid something is going to come out of it and kill him?

He'll be pissed if it's just a shiny rock and nothing else after all that digging. Gosh. Then again, not dying from alien baby or whatever is also good. HRM.
bestranger: @ videnda (ya this old fucker is my co-pilot)

[personal profile] bestranger 2014-11-22 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Egg.

Chuck will be tempted to try and break it / kill it, as he's not had the best of luck with anything alien. BUUUUUT, he's kind of curious what will happen if he keeps it. It does feel warm and there may be something in there so.

What will happen if he keeps it warm for sometime?
bestranger: @ videnda (shit this is confusing)

Congrats, Cooper. You sure did do a thing.

Just fifteen minutes or so after Cooper's testing of the key, a train rumbles along the tracks from the East - heading straight for the barrier. Much like the tree, the train rumbles right through that barrier like it's not even really there. From there, it rumbles conspicuously westward past the station where the key was turned and into Northtown. It fails to stop at the Northtown train station, but that doesn't mean it doesn't stop at all. In fact, it comes to a distinct and thorough stop the moment it collides with the western barrier from the inside.

Fortunately, the train wasn't going all that fast, maybe 25 mph at the time, so the only real damage is the derailing of the engine off to the side a little and some damage in the first car where it runs into the engine in the abrupt stop.

The train is only 8 cars long, and each of them are locked. What's inside them? That can be discovered on the 1st!

Within the room, he'll find what appears to be an empty room save for a large assortment of ornately-engraved panels along the walls. These panels, upon investigation, swing upward and slide most of the way into the wall if you catch your fingers along the bottom ledge and give it a tug.

Behind these panels, he'll find what could only be the castle's collection of precious metals and jewels. Some have been crafted into jewelry, while others are much too valuable to attempt to wear, both large and utterly flawless in quality. There are precisely 35 individual pieces in this room, each (for one reason or another) worth upwards of a million dollars as a modest estimate.

In addition, he'll find a small garnet bottle filled with five ounces of an unidentified liquid. Take a whiff, and you might be led to wonder if it's a mild and slightly musky perfume of sorts... But just give it a couple of minutes, and all of a sudden your eyes no longer seem to focus as they should. Don't worry - the dizziness should pass within a half hour. But you might not want to try that again...

The creature that emerges was once human, at least in part. The head is humanoid, but the jaw is much too long and the lips can't close over the rows of long broken teeth, and the neck is alarmingly long. Not to mention the empty black sockets where eyes can't quite be discerned. (Think: This handsome gentleman.)

The body, unlike those images, is sturdy but emaciated the entire way down the torso rather than simply along the ribs, and while it does have two short bent arms ending in a single claw each, it has six other limbs as well to hold the body aloft not unlike a spider. These limbs, like a spider's, bend in two places, but other than that they're entirely flesh and even end in regular hands.

They'd better bail - and fast. This thing can outrun a person easily, and if it catches you, there's a 50% chance you'll get your skull, ribs, or throat crushed in those jaws... Oh, and the other 50% goes to two of those legs ripping you limb from limb. They're alarmingly strong.

It'll take equal parts teamwork and dumb luck to get out of this one.
