Character Information
Character Name: Jack Sparrow
Canon: Pirates of the Caribbean
Canon Point: At the end of the third movie.
History: http://pirates.wikia.com/wiki/Jack_Sparrow
Personality: Jack is at first, what appears to be your average, shallow pirate. With the exception of a marveously full and rich vocabulary, he likes his women, he likes his drink, and he likes the sea and his ship. All the normal things a pirate should like. But there are layers to Jack that are usually glossed over by the pirate and left unseen, mostly for his own benefit, because he can't have just anyone figuring him out all in one go. Things he would just as soon have no one ever know about him, because pirates are supposed to be terrifying and dangerous. One of two things Jack has proven again and again, not to be.

For starters, Jack is probably one of the few pirates with a distinct set of morals. They're buried underneath immoral actions such as being a pirate, stealing from people, impersonating priests and judges, sleeping with whores, and so on and so forth. But Jack does, in fact, have morals somewhere deep underneath all of that. He dislikes fighting, somewhat because it's dangerous work, work in general and he doesn't want to die. But he dislikes having to kill people. Oh he'll do it if he has to, fire the cannons, swordfight with navy men, but he distinctly does not enjoy randomly slaughtering innocent folk. Of course, this is written into the code and a proper pirate does not go around just murdering everyone they find. But Jack clearly has a distaste for murder.

Jack is a womanizer, and he regularly presses women beyond their comfort zones, but he is something of a harmless womanizer. Flip a few skirts, kiss a few wenches, though he'd never force a kiss on a lady. He's not exactly a gentleman, but he still knows where to stop. To a degree, anyway. Jack is... somewhat soft for a pirate, actually actively disliking other pirate captains and admitting that he would never want to be in a place full of pirates (see: Shipwreck cove), and would also like the idea of being the only pirate left. While this certainly plays into his want to be a legend and how self absorbed he is, Jack generally doesn't trust other pirates, because most of them are even worse than he is, and he's pretty terrible himself, being dishonest and thieving and a general pain in the ass.

That isn't to say that Jack can't be at all dangerous or is someone that can be easily messed with. He is, after all, a pirate. He's an intensely clever man who can think on his feet and make decisions rapidly and as he goes along. It is actually impossible to tell whether or not he thinks it all up before hand, or if he makes it up as he goes, but his plans are usually crazy, death defying, and work. He knows how to talk to people, certain people, in order to get what he wants, and is an expert at making deals and then reneging on said deals and ending up paying absolutely nothing for what he wants. Sometimes it doesn't work out, and what gets Jack in trouble the most is the copius use of his mouth. He constantly talks himself into big problems and has to wheel and deal himself back out of them, or if all else fails, lie cheat and steal his way out of them. He does have something of a silver tongue, though it's mostly bladed and tarnished at this point in his life.

He is not an honest person and almost everything Jack says should be taken with mountains of salt. He lies as he breathes and it only happens occasionally that he tells the truth, and of course each time he does 'everyone is surprised'. Of course, he lies so frequently and so easily that he can pull off the most grandoise of fibs and have it come out sounding quite real. Even Elizabeth believed his story about how he escaped being marooned, up until he admitted he was saved by rum runners. Jack likes his stories, and likes making them sound big and fantastic and generally more than what they actually were, though he has plenty of absolutely marvelous tales to tell without all the embellishments. He's something of a legend, the pirate lord of the Caribbean, he has to sound amazing. Jack will say almost anything to get what he wants, even make deals that seem to harm him, or that he hates entirely. He gave up Will and promised one hundred people to Davy Jones, but he didn't intend on leaving his friend there. Just as he never intended on giving himself up to Davy.

Jack, despite all his wiles and his intelligence, is somewhat immature, however. He was raised on board a pirate ship with a pirate for a father, he didn't exactly learn how to be a gentleman. Somehow, he managed to learn all his big fancy words from someone, as well as a bit of Latin and law terms, probably from his Code-Keeper of a father. Despite all of this, he is perfectly capable of acting like a child, mostly in his stubbornness, which rears its ugly head very often with Jack, but also in his mannerisms towards people. At the end of the third movie, when he finds his ship stolen from him again, he throws his own personal tantrum by insulting the two women he was about to try and impress with his ship, he's so upset. He gets slapped for it of course. He argues, he whines, cajoles and demands quite often, and for all his apparent social ability, still doesn't know how to act in society to a point where he'd be accepted by more normal folk. He doesn't really care either, he knows enough about people to use them, and that's all he's ever needed to know.

Jack is, for all his faults, a good man. He is (somewhat) loyal to his friends, and does what he can to help them (and himself) in the long run. He originally helped Will save Elizabeth because it meant escaping jail, getting the Pearl back, and using the man as leverage against Barbossa. But he came to enjoy Will's presence, and eventually ended up running a gambit that saved his life when he could have let him die. He attempted to comfort Elizabeth when she was upset, wasn't terribly good at it but he did his best, and he sacrificed immortality for Will and helped him to stab the heart of Davy Jones, giving up the one thing he wanted the most in life in order to keep the two people he cared the most about from being destroyed. He even betrayed Beckett and damned himself to a life of being hunted when he refused to show Cutler where to find more slaves, freeing them all before they could be taken away and sold. Jack is a pirate, a scoundrel, a womanizer, a thief and a liar, but at heart he is good with a sense of justice.

Items on your character at canon point: Cutlass, pistol, magic compass, his hat and clothes, and his magic macguffin map.

Abilities: Duelist: Fast with both his sword and his pistol

Brilliant strategist: Don’t play chess against him whatever you do

Lucky: Well sort of. Inhumanly bad and inhumanly good.

Silver tongue: He can be charming if he really wants to.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Strengths:

Intelligence: Jack is blindingly clever, and has more than once over the span of his movies outthought and outplayed his opponents and enemies. While he occasionally leaves things up to chance, he’s usually very, very good about reading people and knowing what they will do next, see working with Will Turner, making Elizabeth Pirate King, and taking the liberty of cutting the middle out of the magic map before Barbossa could steal it.

Crack Shot: Jack shot the dead man’s chest out of Davy Jones hand, in a storm, while flying around on a rope, with a pistol.

Excellent duelist: Jack knows how to use a sword, and has managed to hold his own against Barbossa, Davy Jones and Will Turner. Maybe not always in a fair fight, but he won nevertheless and is very, very good with a cutlass.

Weaknesses

Pretty Faces: Jack stumbled with Elizabeth, distracted by her kiss, which allowed her to chain him to the ship and get attacked by the kraken.

Arrogant: He thinks he’s the best thing ever, and sometimes doesn’t plan on anyone being smarter or faster than he is. Will managed to get him in the first movie because of this, and cocked up Jack’s original plan.

Soft: Deep down, Jack is pretty soft hearted. He’ll wave a sword and threaten, but when it comes right down to it he hates hurting people without reason. He may not be the most charitable man, but he’s given up things to protect his friends, like the immortal life on the sea he’d wanted, twice. He can act like he doesn’t care, but when it comes right down to it, Jack is secretly an old softy.

Network/Action Sample: Oi.

[There’s a grumpy pirate on the phone. He hasn’t quite figured out how to hold it yet, so he’s just turned it on and set it down across the table from him. Upside down. It works.]

What’s a man got to do around here to get some decent drink? No ridiculous suggestions as I have most likely already attempted them. This is going to be a democratic process and is not to be taken lightly, I take my drinking very seriously and the rest of you should as well.

I’d hate to inflict myself sober on any one person here, I consider myself just too kind a man for that.

Now.

[He taps the screen, finally flipping it over onto its side. That doesn’t look any better but hey,he doesn’t care]

Would someone please inform ol’ Jack just whereabouts he can get a damned bottle of rum before some things mysteriously catch fire?

Character Information
Character Name: Tim "Roderick" Nelson
Canon: The Following
Canon Point: 1x13 after his death
History: "You really a sheriff?"

Personality: Roderick's journey down the path he takes in The Following began in college when he minored in literature and Joe Carroll wound up taking an interest in him. But it was his home life before this that primed him for Joe's manipulations in the first place. Roderick tells Emma at one point that his mom was in politics and his dad was a war hero, and that they'd always been big on public service. It's also highly insinuated in one scene that Roderick was abused as a child when he reacts poorly to unexpected touch.

What all of this meant for Roderick was that by the time he met Joe, he was majoring in political studies at his parent's behest (despite his obvious skill in literature - he won awards for his poetry even), craving some sort of control and connection with the rest of humanity (things he hadn't found as a child), and open to manipulation from a fatherly figure in the shape of one Joe Carroll.

Joe showed him how to find control in the final moments of a person's life, in being responsible for those moments, and young Tim Nelson flourished under his teachings. When Joe was eventually arrested for his many crimes and claimed responsibility for two of Tim's own kills as well, he adopted the name Roderick from Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher and began to work in earnest to repay Joe for all that he felt the man had done for him.

Sheriff Tim Nelson (because Roderick is going to be a name he uses very sparingly in the Box, and probably not attached to his face ever, unless he can't avoid it-- at this point, he's not even all that fond of the connections that name has to Joe anyway) might talk and smile like a good old boy from a small town, but he's not slow and he's not stupid by any stretch of the imagination. Quite the opposite, in fact.

He's got a head for organization and planning, as well as for poetry of all things. While Joe was in prison, Roderick was the one to recruit and build his cult following. He found them a house, hid them all away in the housing records, even developed militia support in the form of training and supplies. All of this while he also managed to work his way up to sheriff of Havenport, as well.

For all of his "academic" cleverness (poetry awards and all), Roderick's strongest point is actually people. Roderick knows just how to charm people. How to make them feel important and wanted, how to make them want to do things for him. He comes across as earnest, kind, and in fact, "normal" as Claire tells him at one point in the show.

Part of his strength in this manner come from the fact that he isn't always acting. While his empathy is generally limited to people from the cult, people he sees as family, the most important part of this statement has to be the fact that he is indeed capable of empathy (something little if any of the other cult members manage to exhibit). While Roderick himself isn't all that sure how his feelings work (being unable to reliably tell Joe one way or another if he "cared" for Louise after death, being unwilling to watch as Joe killed another member of the cult despite the fascination he finds with watching the last moments of life slip away from a person, or even more notably, actually being driven to tears and anger when Joe killed an old friend of his outside of the cult) it's painfully clear that there is something other than simply violence resting in his heart.

For some people, anyway. The ones that manage to get close. But then, getting close can be dangerous as well.

Because on the complete other side of the coin, Roderick's social intuitiveness means that he knows all of the best ways to manipulate and wound people emotionally, psychologically. He knows just the right way to make Claire (Joe's ex-wife) come with him instead of running away with Ryan, has all the right words to cut into Emma when she starts trying to weasel control away from him in the cult, even knows exactly how to unnerve and wreck Joe's careful control by stealing away his kid.

And here's the thing. Roderick called that an impulsive move, claimed that it was a character defect, his impulsiveness, and while he's not entirely lying it's not nearly as thoughtless and debilitating as he'd like people to believe either. Roderick's strength lies in his planning, but he's also intuitive enough that he can quickly analyze a surprise situation and come up with the best plan of action from the options he has available to him.

On the other hand sometimes that impulsiveness really is just impulsive down to it's very core. Notably, when he's feeling particularly upset (with Joe mostly) Roderick strikes out randomly at the nearest person in the room, only to turn around literally a second later and apologize and try to help them up. He mostly manages enough control to avoid showing it, but when he can't it becomes painfully obvious how young he actually is emotionally. At least, when childhood wounds are poked and prodded, he is anyway.

Control is a huge thing for Roderick though. Control is the reason he kills, keeping control of a situation helps him keep control of himself. He'd never had any kind of control as a kid, and Joe showed him how to take control. When Joe begins to take that control away from him after he escapes from prison, Roderick starts to down spiral a bit. He starts getting more violent, more paranoid, more hurt by the betrayal of someone that he'd come to depend on so much. Emma didn't have such a good time of things when she tried to steal control away from Roderick either, for that matter. Above all else, Roderick craves control. And he will not react well to anyone trying to take it from him

If he's not in a good position to kill people in order to exert control, however, he can supplement this need by taking on some kind of leadership role, as well as through aggressive sex. It's important to note here, however, that Roderick doesn't actually have to be the aggressor in said sex for it to satisfy him, though he also won't react all that favorably if someone tries to pressure him into anything when he's not feeling it, either. Think the attempted strangling that I mentioned earlier in this section.

One of the most telling moments in the show in regards to Roderick's motivations, however, comes from a quiet, friendly conversation that Roderick has with Joe's ex-wife Claire, when she tells him that he seems "like a normal, functioning person." Roderick gives her a surprisingly bittersweet smile and explains that the cult and the house provide him with a sort of haven where he doesn't have to be afraid to act like himself. He very pointedly labels it at safe, and if you consider the insinuated abuse he endured as a child, this line takes on a particularly strong meaning.

His conversation with Claire reveals a surprisingly strong sense of self-awareness from Roderick. Unlike most if not all of the followers of Joe Carroll (including Joe himself) Roderick is all too aware of the fact that there is something fundamentally wrong with him. This self-awareness of what Roderick calls hi "basic human nature" leads to Roderick's need to exert control, his easy manner with a public face, and the empathy he manages to exhibit for a select few.

Roderick isn't an unkind person, not even a technically immoral person. He simply has his own kindness and his own morals that he follows instead.

Items on your character at canon point: FBI cap and jacket, handgun. That's... that's it. Nothing else.

Abilities:
  • weapons: knows his way around things that can make you bleed. he'll favor a knife over a gun for kills of a more personal nature, but he can handle a gun just fine as well.

  • acting: extremely talented at flying under the radar despite his particular psychosis. seems "like a normal, functioning person"... at least until he doesn't.

  • knowledge of law: he's sheriff back home in Havenport, or at least, he was before he was killed, so he knows his way around law and procedure.

  • knowledge of other: studied literature in college, has a particular affinity for poetry and has actually won some awards for his own writing when he was younger.

  • leader: he needed this not only as the leader of the cult while Joe was in prison, but also as sheriff. he's good at giving directions and making decisions, even offering comfort when the situation calls for it.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

+ self-aware: unlike most of Joe's followers (and indeed Joe himself) Roderick is well aware of the fact that there is something wrong with him. in it's own way, this helps him shape a more believable facade for the world to see.

+ charming: said facade is charming. very charming. his mother was in politics, so no doubt he learned quite a lot from her. he knows how best to talk to people, how to smile to make them smile, how to make people feel important and interesting and wholly worth his time.

+ empathy: a strange strength to see on the profile of a serial killer, I know, but he does actually, genuinely, care about certain people. in fact out of everyone in Joe's following, Roderick has been the only one to actually be upset by death in their ranks. the problem is just that his empathy is very select.

+ strategist: Roderick was the one to set up Joe's following while the man was in prison. he recruited, hid them, organized contacts for supplies, etc. he knows how to dig at people's weak points too, what he can manipulate to best serve himself.

- strong need for control: killing is all about control for Roderick, and when he starts losing control in a situation, a lot of the above positive traits of his start to go out the window. he can lash out, grow paranoid, and begin to lose some of his reasoning ability. betrayal will also sting extra hard for him.

- impulsive: in a lot of ways, Roderick is still very much a child. while he's in control, he's fine, but as soon as he gets scared, angry, or emotional, he can start to lash out impulsively. this can lead to him clocking someone across the face only to apologize immediately afterward. or, you know, to kidnap Joe Carroll's kid.

- violent: well I mean. obviously. he's a killer after all. Roderick's particular fondness for violence revolves mostly around claiming or maintaining control. he can sometimes offset this with aggressive sex instead (in which he doesn't even need to be the aggressor) but overall his self control is pretty strong in this matter until people start challenging said control.

- no touchy: while Roderick can and will use sex as a way to offset his need for violence, he is absolutely not okay with touch that he hasn't initiated or expects. in fact he's pulled a gun on and strangled two different people who tried touching him when he wasn't inviting it, one of whom was even his regular sex partner.

- daddy complex: it's highly insinuated in the show that Roderick was abused as a child, and he certainly saw Joe as something of a father figure, which made Joe physically attacking him later an even stronger betrayal than it might have been otherwise. Joe managed to sour a good deal of this, but he'll still instinctively gravitate towards that sort of approval regardless.

Samples
Network/Action Spam Sample: clicky clicky

Prose Log Sample: Finding out about the ephemeral nature of death in this place that the locals unimaginatively called The Box had caused a bit of a conflict for Roderick when he'd first heard. The fact that nobody managed to stay dead should have meant that people wouldn't mind a bit of recreational murder every now and then, or so it stood to reason for Roderick, but then, not many people seemed to agree with him on that little point either if the people's reactions to those boogeyman technicians was any way to judge.

And since folk were apparently unable to behave rationally about a bit of death, it presented Roderick with a bit of a problem. Namely, that anyone he tried his hand at killing might come back a week later and be able to finger him for the deed, which might go a ways to complicating the name he'd been building for Tim Nelson since he got here.

Roderick never had been a fan of his hard work getting unraveled, particularly by his own blood stained hands.

There were ways to get around that little pit fall, of course, but they all took time and planning. And Roderick was beginning to become a bit impatient, without the distraction of managing a house full of unstable killers, or making the ever important decision of coleslaw or potato salad (the lack of respect these people had for a man of the badge was frankly astonishing, you'd think in a place and situation like this they'd all invite a bit of order but no, he was responsible for his own damn coleslaw).

All of this meant that Roderick was tetchy and on edge, and looking for a way to unwind. The smooth edges of his smile were getting a bit tricky to maintain, and he just wants these damn technicians to get a move on and kill someone already, even if that someone is him.

He'd take anything to escape the boredom at this point. And at least feeling the life drain out of himself instead of a stranger would be something new.
shadowfrost: I should fix that...eventually (a crow flew to me)

Character Information
Character Name: Yoichi Saotome
Canon: Seraph of the End
Canon Point: Chapter 30, end
History: Here.
Personality: If called upon to name his worst trait, Yoichi would have no doubts as to the answer: he's a coward. This isn't a fact that can be easily glossed over, ignored, or played down even by people that are trying to think well of him. He's easy to push around, he hates fighting, he's always playing the mediator, and he'd sooner let himself get bossed around and bullied than stand up to someone and risk starting an argument or inviting that person's anger. He cries easily, forgives quickly, apologizes for things that aren't his fault, and gets jittery under pressure. One could hardly be blamed for dismissing Yoichi as being completely useless for anything outside of turning in his homework in time - plenty of others have, after all, Yoichi among them. As he sees it, it's because of his own cowardice that his sister died and the guilt of that is constantly eating at him.

But if called upon to name his best trait, Yoichi still wouldn't have any doubts: he's unfailingly loyal to his friends and family. He even originally believed that his primary motivation for joining JIDA (the Japanese Imperial Demon Army) was to get revenge for his sister, who was killed by a vampire - only to realize (and draw a little bit of courage from) that he actually wanted to become strong enough to prevent any of his loved ones from dying like that again. He might think of himself as weak, but even he can acknowledge that he's at his best when he's acting on behalf of his friends.

It's not surprising, then, that Yoichi is extremely kind and relentlessly optimistic, even in regards to people outside his family. He always tries to believe the best in others even when, for example, they might currently be in the middle of beating him up and extorting him for money. That particular instance was (in his mind) his fault as well - he was the one who asked them for help enlisting in the army, afterall. The bullying did nothing to stop him from promptly turning around and helping those same bullies rescue one of their friends from a dangerous, highly restricted military area. He tries his best to keep his friends out of trouble and can often be found trying to discourage Yuuichirou and Kimizuki from fighting with Glen, or Shinoa and Mitsuba, or (most often) each other. He worries after their health and can even be seen gently chiding them about their lack of self care once or twice. When it comes to vampires he doesn't show the same vehement hatred for them that other humans do and he was even friendly and gentle when negotiating with a demon that was attempting to take over his mind.

While he's usually fairly typical in his displays of kindness he can be mischievous as his confidence in a relationship grows. With friends he'll come out of his shell enough to taunt and tease and make little jokes; he's been seen pointing out hypocrisy, teasing about their individual idiosyncrasies, and even joking about being too tired to continue their critical training. While he's always respectful of his superiors he'll become more open and honest with them as time goes on. Even outside of his friends he's someone that'll trust another person's opinion of himself over his own, but there's no denying that his friends' words will have a stronger impact (whether they're talking him up or down).

Because of his growing relationship with his surrogate family he's someone that's constantly on the verge of making small but steady improvements in his life. Most critically is that guilt over his sister's death has begun to loosen its grip on him. Yoichi is nowhere near being able to shake it off entirely but coping with it has gotten easier and it's no longer chipping away at his desire to live - not now that he knows he has new a new family counting on him. His self-worth isn't quite improving but his confidence in his own capability as a soldier is on the rise. He's gotten less prone to locking up in an awkward situation and even more open about teasing his friends.

And finally, friends and family. In this case, for Yoichi his family is the other members of his squad: Yuuichirou Hyakuya, Shinoa Hiiragi, Shihou Kimizuki, and Mitsuba Sanguu. The five of them, being a group of teenage soldiers using extremely dangerous weapons in a war where the odds stacked against them, do not always get along peacefully. Each of them has their own personal trauma and their own way of dealing with it and sparks arise frequently when their methods and personalities clash. Though Yoichi is the onlymembers of the squad that's never had a real fight with any of the others he's still often in the midst of these arguments, trying to calm everyone down and keep the argument from spiraling out of control.

Each member of the squad, however, has two important things in common: they all consider each other family, and they're all willing to do whatever they must to protect one another. His relationship with the rest of the squad, and the knowledge of their mutual care for one another, is one of the only things Yoichi is unwaveringly confident in.

Items on your character at canon point: His uniform (boots, gloves, coat, pants, undershirt, cloak, hat) and a pack of a dozen JIDA-issued battle supplements (details below).

Abilities: A Demon Weapon is, as the name implies, a weapon that has had a demon sealed away inside of it. These require contracts to use, and Yoichi has formed one such contract with a demon named Gekkouin. Gekkouin takes the form of a bow and is used exactly as such. She can also greatly increase his range of vision, allowing him to spot and accurately snipe enemies from great distances (the exact range is never given, but is at least several hundred yards and could be as long as several miles). In addition, being contracted with Gekkouin grants Yoichi increased strength, speed, and stamina and allows him to recover from wounds at a much faster rate than normal humans can.

Because Gekkouin is a manifestation type demon she doesn't have a permanent physical form. She lives inside Yoichi and can be materialized into a bow at will and dismissed just as easily.

Manifestation is a special skill of certain Demon Weapons (Gekkouin among them) that allows their users to fully utilize their powers. When Yoichi summons Gekkouin normally the demon doesn't actually leave him. Even dropping the bow that she forms won't actually separate the two of them or diminish the enhanced physical capabilities she's given Yoichi. In exchange, what she can do in this form falls far below what she's actually capable of. That's where manifestation comes in. Yoichi is able to separate the two of them and send Gekkouin herself out in the form of multiple arrows, each of them much stronger and faster than her standard ones. The downside is that when he does that he does temporarily lose the boons of speed and strength she grants to him. It's a highly situational skill that leaves him extremely vulnerable, and is best used when he can get the drop on an enemy.

Sniping, unlike the rest of Yoichi's abilities, is a skill he's learned the traditional way - and only recently, at that. Under the guidance of Shinya (one of his commanding officers in the JIDA) he's learned the art of selecting a sniping perch, calming himself before the mission, seeking out a target, taking a steady shot, and (most critically) running the hell away if things go south and he's spotted. Ultimately it's a small but useful bolster to the archery skills he's gained as part and parcel of his contract with Gekkouin.

JIDA Supplements are special pills that the JIDA assigns to their soldiers for use in battle. When Yoichi takes one of these pills his ability to synchronize with Gekkouin will increase to %150 of his normal ability, further enhancing his speed, strength and skill. On the downside, he ends up sacrificing his endurance in its place. At 13 minutes his synchronization rate will drop back to its usual level, and at 15 minutes the rate will drop to nothing - he'll loose his physical boons and the ability to summoner her at all until he recovers, which can take several days. These are another highly situational tool in his arsenal and he's cautious about using them.

Finally, Yoichi is noted to have an unusually stable mental state and, as a result, an extremely high mental resistance when it comes to demons and other corrupting forces. He's been shown to stand unaffected in face of demonic forces that left his teammates weak and shaky and is able to speak readily and openly with Gekkouin in his sleep - something that should have taken years of practice to master. The end result is that he has a naturally high affinity for working with Gekkouin and is more advanced in her use than other Demon Weapon users with his same level of experience.

Strengths and Weaknesses: I addressed his various strengths and weaknesses in his personality section, so this is a recap!

To his advantage, Yoichi is loyal, attentive to the needs of others, a highly skilled long-range combatant, able to make friends (or at least friendly acquaintances) easily, unusually resistant to the influence of corrupting forces, and able to summon is weapon to his side in an instant.

But to his disadvantage, he's cowardly, easy to push around, lacking in confidence, easily manipulated with threats to his friends and family, lacking in self-awareness, unable to use Gekkouin's full power without putting himself at risk, and overspecialized in long-range combat to the point of being nearly useless at close-range.

Network/Action Sample: Everyone! [ Yoichi speaks with an anxious thread in his tone, voice gone slightly reedy from it. ] Please be careful if you're traveling today! Southtown has flooded and the rain isn't stopping. [ In fact, the steady white noise of raindrops pummeling Yoichi and his surroundings can be heard in the background of the transmission. ] There's monsters in the water, too!

[ Yoichi's tone changes somewhat. He sounds less freaked out and more confident - still anxious, of course, but not near as much. ] If you go to a flooded area, stay on a roof. Boats aren't safe! The monsters all have tentacles and they'll pull you under if you're not careful. [ And now, finally, the reedy quality of his voice fades away. ] So if you have to come to Southtown please tell me about it. I'm on the roof of the hotel and I can help keep the monsters away if I can see you coming!

Prose Log Sample: Southtown is flooded - again, as Yoichi understands it. The various Box denizens that have been here longer than he assure him that it's not near as bad as last time in terms of flooding. On the other hand, he's heard plenty of them insist that it's even worse than last time on account of all the tentacled horrors lurking about. Yoichi had already seen one unfortunate straggler get yanked under just outside the bank, leaving only a red-tinged froth in his wake. It's left Yoichi upset and unsettled (he hadn't even had Gekkouin out, he hadn't even been able to try helping) yet determined. If that's what waiting for him and everyone else if they can't get to safety in time then that's all the motivation he needs. He'd made his way to the top of the hotel, settled in with Gekkouin at the ready, and waited.

Peering through the downpour is a pain even with the demon's powers enhancing his eyesight. The misty gloom of the rain and the swirl of debris in the floodwater makes it hard to pick out the movement of monsters and survivors alike and Yoichi finds his attention bouncing about erratically as he studies the landscape. This is whole different game from trying to search out vampires or horsemen in the wreckage of a the city. The fact that the rain has already soaked through his hat, cloak, and uniform is just an added bit of discomfort on top of it all. He's cold and wet and tired from maintaining his focus for so long.

Still... he can't remember the last time he saw so much rain, so much water that wouldn't burn him just to stand in. It makes him happy, almost - though once again on the other hand the oceans back home weren't full of monsters. At least there staying away from the sea ensured that nothing in the sea would somehow find a way to kill you anyway. The end result is that Yoichi is in a much better mood than he might have been otherwise.

... And maybe a little more distracted than he should have been otherwise, since it takes him a full three seconds to process that the splotch of white and grey he sees moving about on the roof of a nearby home is actually a person. Yoichi leaps to his feet in a heartbeat, waving his hand about.

"Hey! Over here!" He calls out as loud as he can't, despite being certain that whoever it is out there can't actually hear him. Hopefully the green glow from Gekkouin will be enough to draw their attention.
